The Laughter Archive

The Laughter Archive is the Church’s growing collection of original jokes, comic observations, parables, member submissions, sacred satire, humorous stories, and teachings on the craft and ethics of humor. It is both religious literature and institutional memory.

Entries may be organized by theme, author, date, congregation, doctrine, medium, or related ministry. The Archive should distinguish original material, licensed material, public-domain material, quotations used lawfully, and member submissions. Attribution matters because stewardship includes intellectual honesty.

The Archive has three religious purposes. First, it preserves the creative output of the community. Second, it provides material for worship and teaching. Third, it demonstrates that Iambism asks members to make mirth rather than merely consume entertainment.

The Archive may document jokes arising from Church programs, travel, property, equipment, events, or creative projects. Such documentation is evidence of religious output but is not, standing alone, proof that every associated expenditure was an exempt-purpose expenditure. Financial purpose must be established independently at the time of authorization.

Editorial standards should favor broad usefulness, originality, consent, and contextual labeling. Some adult humor may be archived in age-restricted or clearly identified sections rather than placed indiscriminately before all audiences.
