Stewardship

We feast today, yet save the second loaf.

The Perpetual Feast is the Church's institutional commitment to preserve and prudently grow resources for future ministry.

The doctrine

A portion serves the gathering of today;
A portion waits to light another way.
What rests with us belongs to none alone;
The Church must guard the gifts that it has grown.

What it is not

No donor or member receives a capital account, redemption right, profit share, or claim on investment returns. Gifts become Church assets to be used for the Church's exempt purposes.

Four duties of the Second Loaf

Preserve

Keep adequate reserves before taking avoidable risk.

Grow

Invest prudently for long-term institutional support.

Spend

Fund actual worship, education, charitable ministry, literature, and fellowship.

Document

Keep Church and personal assets completely separate and record decisions contemporaneously.
