Preparation

Complete editorial review before the dedication.

Confirm provenance/permission status.

Do not connect the rite to a financial expense merely to “validate” that expense.

Order of the Rite

Opening

A joke may vanish quicker than a spark;
We keep some flame by setting words in mark.

Editorial Witness

The Archive Editor states the volume title, number of entries, provenance standard, categories, and review status.

Dedication

Keep what is worthy, name from whence it came;
Let borrowed laughter never steal a name.
May future tables find these pages near;
A stored-up jest for some uncharted year.

Archive Act

The editor changes the volume status from draft/review to adopted or approved according to the Church’s editorial process.

Charge

Leader: “Preserve mirth. Do not manufacture proof.”

Online Adaptation

The dedication works especially well online because the Archive itself is digital. The collection may be displayed live and then published immediately after the rite.
